I’m a Massachusetts native committed to building a more connected community. I own a home in the Wellington area with my wife Hannah who works as a software engineer and our tabby cat Pecan. I am a community activist and a member of the Medford Arts Council, an organization focused on cultivating arts and culture in the city. I led the blog rollout by speaking with community members about their creative projects and writing content to promote their work. I am also a member of the Solid Waste Taskforce, a committee dedicated to rebuilding Medford’s trash and recycling contract with a focus on sustainability. I was recently added to the Pride Planning Committee and am passionate about bringing an inclusive and creative Pride Month to the city.
I grew up in Andover, Massachusetts. As the middle of five children, my grit stems from my childhood. At two years old, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy, a seizure disorder that impacts brain development. I experienced seizures every 45 minutes and was put on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that allowed me to learn in a slower, small group setting. While I outgrew Epilepsy at nine years old, the disorder had long-term effects on my social and cognitive development. I remained on an IEP through eighth grade.
I found sports as a way to express myself outside my IEP, and quickly became a renowned athlete. I was inducted into the Andover High School Hall of Fame in March 2023 for my contributions in Field Hockey and Indoor Track and Field. I went on to play Varsity Field Hockey at Brown University. In addition to my athletics, I was also an editor on the Brown Daily Herald and majored in Political Science.
Through my Political Science degree, I secured an internship in Senator Markey’s (D) office where I gained insight into the power of constituent voices and the vast public policy needs in the state. As a Medford resident, I now want to combine my Political Science background with my passion for community building into the role of City Councilor. I want to ensure everybody, no matter what gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, ethnicity, economic status, or disability, feels safe and welcomed in our community. I also understand that to have a diverse and inclusive city, we need more accessible transportation and affordable housing. We also need diverse and minority voices within leadership, particularly on city committees and commissions. Medford must work towards an accessible, transparent, and equitable governance that promotes a fair City Council and Mayoral system. I recognize the impact of climate change on the community. I am dedicated to fighting for better air quality, greater tree coverage, enhanced stormwater management solutions, and more sustainable practices such as composting and reusing materials. We must also boost our arts and culture efforts throughout Medford with increased child and teen programming and more city-wide festivals that celebrate the whole of the population. These changes will bring about a deep sense of belonging within the community and create a thriving environment for all.
As a collegiate athlete and a software salesperson, I’m a competitor and a leader who excels at building relationships. I am relentless in my pursuits, but I do so with grace, positivity, and by making genuine connections with others.
I’m excited for the chance to be your Medford City Councilor!
